UOG Women's Volleyball Wins Federation League Match With Injured Line-up
The University of Guam Women's Volleyball Team won their Guam Volleyball Federation
League Match on Saturday against Team Metgot, 2-0, with a wounded line-up. The Tritons
only had 6 players at the match and setter Jovelle Alcantara is injured with an bad
finger in a metal brace, so the UOG squad put Jovelle on the court but as the ball
was served, she would step off the court and UOG would play with 5 players. Jovelle
was able to serve for the team.
In the first set, UOG dominated play and won 25-15. In the 2nd set, the match was
more competitive but UOG played much better in the later stages of the match than
in other recent matches and won 25-22. It is the 2nd victory for the Tritons over
Team Metgot so far this season.
UOG is now 4-3 in the Federation League and play again tomorrow at 11:40 a.m. against
Haggen in the "Jungle" on the Father Duenas Memorial School campus. UOG opened the
Federation season with a 2-1 loss to Haggen.
